Learning Outcomes
This program taught me how to expand the skills I already had and many new valuable skills. I learned about the importance of keeping up with website trends and understanding how to create a website based on the target customer base. Through this course specifically I learned how to communicate with clients to understand their goals for their website and the right questions to ask them to get a better understanding of their vision. This program went into great detail about creating websites through CMS platforms such as WordPress. After spending so long focusing on coding in Dreamweaver this was a big change for me. Although, through several courses I was able to better understand how to navigate different CMS websites and how they make it easier to edit websites not only for developers but also for clients who want to edit their own websites. This program also taught me about the importance of proper security on websites and how to prevent cyberattacks. Most importantly, I learned how to network through websites such as LinkedIn and Handshake. I learned how to properly develop a resume, portfolio, and cover-letter. I also learned how to network in person through friends and family which helped me secure my internships. This program has helped me develop valuable skills in not only website development, design, and maintenance but also networking and putting myself out there to create opportunities and valuable experiences.
Professional Goals
As a Website Designer and Mobile Application Developer I would like to become a well-rounded developer. I want to have strong skills in both design and functionality of websites. I am going to continue to work hard in improving my coding abilities by activly practicing CSS and HTMl. I also want to continue gaining experience through building websites for different businesses and gaining a further understanding of not only WordPress but multiple CMS websites.
I want to be able to provide businesses with responsive, unique, user-friendly websites that demonstrate the character and goals of their company. I plan to expand my knowlege in mobile application development and frameworks to demonstrate my versatility.
My long-term goal is to work professionally in this the web development field while continuing to learn new skills through hands-on-projects, experiences, and further education.
